The Cròs del Cùc has always stood guard over the Altopiano di Piné, even at night with its illuminated cross. The itinerary offers a suggestive panorama of the main Piné lakes and the major peaks that embrace them. It is an easy and highly satisfying destination.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the car park, we follow the forest road through beautiful spruce woods in a northerly direction. There are a couple of forks with other roads, but the signposts are abundant (signs specifying Cròs del Cùc) and help us not to lose our way. Continuing on an easy uphill forest road, which is also cemented in the steepest sections, we find rest points with benches and a water fountain. Arriving at the fourth hairpin bend, after a walk of about 2 km from the start, we find the junction for Cròs del cùc which, with a 5-minute detour, takes us to a fabulous spot, with a breathtaking view and therefore ideal for taking some beautiful photographs. Returning to the forest road, we continue on the same, passing through the localities of "piz loven", "loca de l'aris" and "el paludat"; after about 3.7 km, in the locality of "bait del crio", noting the "piz comboni" sign, we leave the forest road for a track on the left and, on the level or slightly downhill, we enter the forest. Here there are two beautiful points of interest: Piz Comboni and Sass delle Parole. The former offers suggestive views of the Cembra Valley and the latter is a large, rounded boulder with numbers and words engraved on it. Remaining careful not to lose track of the path, continuing in a south-easterly direction, we join another forest road; from here we can see the village of Brusago, Mount Cogne and the Fregasoga peak dominating the village. Continue along the forest road to return to the car park. The tour is mainly on forest roads except for the central section on footpaths; the latter is not marked with the classic red-and-white markings but is easily intuitable.

Public transport

From Trento bus station, take line B403 towards Montesover (Trento - Pergine - Baselga di Pinè - Montesover) or line B402 (Trento - Nogarè - Baselga di Pinè -Montesover) and get off at the Bedollo village stop.  Walk through the village of Bedollo going up to the Baita Alpina restaurant (about 15 minutes).

By road

From the A22 Brennero motorway (from the south exit Trento sud – from the north exit Trento nord) and from the Statale 12 del Brennero, continue along the S.S. 47 to Pergine Valsugana  and then pass on the S.P. 83 to the village of Bedollo. Cross the village going upwards until you reach the Baita Alpina restaurant.

Parking

About fifty meters after the Alpine Hut near a playground there is a pitch where you can park (free parking).
