High above Santa Maddalena (St. Magdalena) in Val di Casies (Gsieser Tal) Valley

From the Talschlusshütte mountain hut just beyond Sankt Magdalena in Valle di Casies (Gsies) at 1,465 m; parking area, turn right across the stream. Walk along the farm access road for a while, towards Burgerhof Farm, until you reach a trail (No. 12/13) branching off to the right. Follow this trail, which is moderately steep, through the forest in Pfoital Valley up to a crossroad. Ignore the trail on the left, which branches off to the Uwaldalm pastures, and stay on Trail No. 13, continuing through Pfoital Valley, up to some meadows. When you are below the Keilerhütte mountain hut (approx. 2,050 m), turn left and follow the path through the pastures, which crosses grassy slopes and has only a slight uphill grade, out to the Uwaldalm alpine pastures (2,042 m; serves food); about 2 hours. Descent: either stay on the forest road, which is broad and easy but rather long, the whole way or take the old footpath, which is shorter but steeper (marked No. 12), which is the same route as the
