To the Obisell alpine pastures
At an elevation of 2,000 metres in the Outer Val Passiria (Passeiertal) Valley
Begin at the parking lot of Oberöberst Tavern, above Vernuer, at 1,387 m; approach is via a street that branches off from the main road through Val Passiria (Passeirtal) Valley, between Riffiano (Riffian) and Saltaus. From the parking lot, follow signs for Obisell: you’ll start out crossing the forest on a wide trail, which is nearly flat, heading northwest into the steep Saltauser Valley. Follow trail markings (No. 5) along an easy mountain trail, which has safety railings in the places where it is exposed, through steep and sometimes rocky slopes, all the way up to the Unteren (Lower) Obisellalm alpine farm (2,002 m; no food service). Continue climbing up Trail No. 5 to Obisellsee Lake and the Obere (Upper) Obisellalm alpine farm (2,160 m; usually serves food late into autumn); about 2.5 hours from the parking lot.
