Hike on the sunny side of Gardena Valley

Starting at the church in Ortisei (St. Ulrich, 1,236 m) stay with the signposted trail to St. Jakob, at first in between the houses on the street to Sacun (St. Jakob), until a trail labelled Via del Dialogo (Weg des Dialoges) branches off to the left. Follow the switchbacks of this easy trail  to the wayside shrine of Col de Flam. Continue the hike on the forest road, leading uphill; you'll eventually turn left towards the chapel of San Giacomo (St. Jakob) at 1,566 m, walking time from Ortisei is about 1 hour. Descend following the same trail until you reach a fork near another wayside shrine. Here, keep right on the trail to Annatal (signposted), through Langental Valley. Trail No. 9 takes you back to the starting point via the valley station of the Seceda cable car.
