From the former Bad Altprags (1379 m; located on the little road from the Prags road fork to the Plätzwiese), follow Mark. 15 (not 15A!) and follow the signpost "Buchsenriedl", first uphill for a long time on a wide, only moderately ascending farm track to the southeast, later on an easy footpath (always Mark.15) more steeply up through the forest to the Buchsenriedl forest saddle (1803 m; fence), there turn left and up along the forest ridge on trail 15A to the highest point of the Almerstein (1954 m; just under 2 hours). - Descent: From the summit northwards on trail 15A over the forest ridge, then through a mountain meadow and finally through steep forest slopes without orientation problems down to the starting point; from the summit approx. 1:30 hrs.
