Three castles hike
moderate
Distance 12.7 km
At the foot of the 1866 m high Gantkofel is the famous Eppan Castle Triangle. On an art-historically interesting hike you can get an impression of medieval South Tyrol.
This art-historical hike takes us to the famous Eppan castle triangle. First we reach Hocheppan Castle, one of the most important fortified buildings in South Tyrol. After a tour and a rest in the castle tavern, we hike to the Boymont castle ruins, which, although fortified, were primarily used for living rather than for defending the area. A little below is Korb Castle, which dates from the Romanesque period and today houses a hotel. Via the idyllic little village of Missian, the route – surrounded by woods and orchards – finally returns to Andrian.
