The waterfalls in Barbian and to Dreikirchen
Refreshing spring and summer hike
Leave the village in a southerly direction and soon you will find a marker 8A in red-white and in blue-white on the road wall. At the level of the last houses at a wayside cross, a sign points up to the right ("Wasserfall" blue-white). Follow the flagstone path uphill until the arrow "Unterer Wasserfall" (lower waterfall) on a stone at a fork points to the left. After crossing a meadow, you come to the road and follow the signpost to the waterfalls again in the first bend. After a good half hour you are at the lower waterfall. Clearly visible traces and a pipe buried along the path indicate that there was once a "Waal" here. Now a sign "For sure-footed people" warns you of the further ascent to the upper waterfall. The path is stony and steep, but well secured, and in another half hour you reach the upper waterfall, over whose outlet a bridge leads. At the time of snowmelt, you can get a free shower here.
