Along the Waalweg
From Tanas to the entrance to the Matschertal valley and down to Schluderns.

The route of this variant of the third stage of the Val Venosta Mountain Trail begins in Tanas at the Paflur inn. Initially heading north into the small valley incision of the Tanaser Bach stream, the trail then leads in gentle ups and downs along the Sonnenberg mountain to Gschneir. Here the Waalweg (irrigation channel) of the same name begins along an open irrigation channel that carries water from the Matschertal valley to the dry slopes of the Sonnenberg. The path here is shady and very pleasant to walk. After about 3km (from Gschneir), trail 20A and 20 lead down to Churburg Castle and to Schluderns.
