The Ridnaun High Trail

Ascent: From Sterzing (950 m) with the cable car up to the Roßkopf (mountain station: 1900 m; here and nearby refreshments. On foot from Sterzing on signposted forest paths in 2½ –3 hours). Hiking trail: From the cable car mountain station on a wide trail (initially marked 23, then 23 A and after the alpine pastures always 23 B) through medium-steep grassy slopes almost flat westwards to the Ochsenalm (bar) and soon after to the spoil heaps and other traces of former mining. Continue on the now narrower trail at 23 B, first a good stretch uphill and then again on a level slope through the hollow with the small Seebersee lake. Finally across very steep slopes, where the trail crosses a few small steep slopes, quite steep and exposed, and finally briefly descending to the Prischeralm (2160 m; bar); from Roßkopf 3½ hours. Descent: From the alpine pasture, follow signpost 27, first through meadows and then on a partly stony forest path, which descends steeply to the hamlet of Maiern
