A stunning hike through the Dolomites with spectacular views throughout. This 18.5km circular route starts in the beautiful mountain village of Ortisei which has many shops, cafes and bars. The route up is by the funicular car from Ortisei which in itself is a fabulous ride. At the top there is a Refugio serving food and drinks immediately outside the funicular station with wonderful views. A little further on the route from the start another Refugio in beautiful mountain meadow landscapes.

The route is reasonably straight forward following the outline of the ridge at the start before passing through mountain forest and descending into more meadows and forest with a mountain stream on the final descent. On descending about half way down, there is a mid-way cable car station which is an option to return to Ortisei and save a further hour or 2 descending.

This route was adapted from the excellent book by Gillian Price “Shorter Walks in the Dolomites”
