The Pfandler Alm alpine pastures
A great hike for the whole family in Val Passiria (Passeiertal) Valley. The Pfandler Alm alpine pasture was famously the site of a tragic event in the region's history: it was here that South Tyrolean freedom fighter was captured by the French in 1809.
Near the Ponte di Monte S. Zeno (Zenobrücke) Bridge, branch off to the right on the state road, cross the Passirio (Passer) River and you’ll reach Pfandlerhof Farm (1,000 metres) in Prantach, along Trail No. 1. From Pfandlerhof Farm, continue along trail No. 1, for an hour or so, until you reach the Pfandler Alm pastures. The return trip follows the same route.
