The Burgweg and Ochsentodweg Trails and Tyrol Castle
Lagundo (Algund) to the celebrated Tyrol Castle, near Merano (Meran)
The access road to the castle begins at the valley station of the cable car to Velloi (Vellau), in Plars di Mezzo (Mitterplan); it goes slightly uphill, crossing Grabbach Stream and branches off to the right towards Blumenthalerhof Farm a little bit further on. After the paved Ochsentodweg, the route leads almost flat to Thurnstein Castle then goes uphill to Tyrol Castle, via San Pietro (St. Peter). Return trip: a steep descent via Brunnenburg or the village of Tirolo (Dorf Tirol) along the Gnaidweg Trail to Quarazze (Gratsch), Algund (Lagundo), and back to the starting point.
