Stoos - Lidernenhütte SAC - Riemenstalden
A challenging and panoramic hike from the steepest funicular railway in the world to Riemenstalden.
difficult
Distance 14.9 km
Follow the Ringstrasse until you reach the Sternegg ski lift. From there, take the gravel road via Sternegg, Restaurant Klingenstock to Brunnerboden. Continue straight on until you reach the Chruterenwald junction. At Alp Geissbützen the path climbs steeply for a few minutes. Take the path in the direction of Wannentritt to "Uf den Gütschenen". After a total of 3 hours - mainly along lonely mountain paths - you will reach the "Uf den Gütschenen" stopover hut. From your terrace you can see over to the Lidernen hut and get an idea of the steep ascent that is still to come.First, however, it goes steeply downhill. From the main road to Riemenstalden a path branches off to the left to the Lidernenhütte, but only shortly before that the inviting wooden hut shows up again. In the Lidernenhütte of the SAC there are dormitories and good food. You reach the valley via Chäppeliberg to Riemenstalden.
