Around the western part of the Gruppo del Sassolungo (Langkofelgruppe) Mountain Group
These eleven kilometre circular route runs from Rifugio Passo Sella (Sellajochhaus), first with the cable car up to Forcella del Sassolungo (Langkofelscharte) wind gap; from there, the hike takes you down to Rifugio Vicenza (Langkofelhütte).

Ascent: From the hotel-scale Rifugio Passo Sella (Sellajochhaus) mountain hut on the road that leads from Val Gardena (Gröden) Valley to the Passo Sella (Sella Joch) Pass (2,179 m), take the gondola up to the Langkofelscharte wind gap, which cuts between Fünffingerspitze Peak and Sassolungo (Langkofel) Mountain, and on to Toni Demetz Hütte (2,679 m; operating in summer; walking on Trail 525: 1 hour. Descent: From the wind gap, head north on Trail No. 525 across the (often snow-covered) scree of the Langkofelkar cirque. It’s steep for about 40 minutes, down to the Rifugio Vicenza (Langkofelhütte) mountain hut, which is set magnificently into the mountains (2,252 m; operating in summer). Then continue along the access road, down to where Trail No.527 (2,014 m) forks to the left; 1 hour from Langkofelscharte wind gap.
