Turn-by-turn directions

The hike begins at the car park of the Paolina valley station in Carezza/Karersee (1,630 m). Head through the holiday village to the Nigerstraße road and continue to the Kaiserstein viewpoint. Follow trail [1A] above the Nigerstraße road past the Ochsenhütte mountain hut, Tscheiner Hütte mountain hut and the Frommeralm tavern to the Nigerpass. Turn left on trail [1], following the signs to the Schillerhof Alpine farm. Then return to the junction with path [4A] leading to the Hagneralm and on to Nova Levante. It is also possible to hike the trail the other way round!

Alternative for return: from the Schillerhof Alpine farm continue on trail [1] until the wolf pit an d than on trial [5] back to Nova Levante.

Getting there

Getting to the starting point of the tour by public transport is easy and convenient.

By public bus line: - 180 from Bozen | Bolzano, Birchabruck | Ponte Nova - 180 or 184 from Karersee | Carezza, Karerpass | Passo Costalunga - 184 from Weissenstein | Pietralba, Petersberg | Monte San Pietro, Deutschnofen | Nova Ponente, Stenk (or 181 and change 180) - 184 from Obereggen, Eggen | Ega (or 184 and change 180) - 187 from Steinegg | Collepietra, Gummer | San Valentino (or 182 and change 180) - 180 from Val di Fassa Bus stop: Paolina. Take highway's exit “Bolzano Nord/Eggental”, turn right direction Bolzano/Bozen, after about 0,5 km on roundabout keep left and head towards Val d'Ega (SS 241). Keep driving up to Ponte Nova. At Ponte Nova’s crossroads, turn to the left in direction to Nova Levante and continue until parking Paolina in Carezza (about 30 min. from highway toll booth).
