This celebrated trail offers stunning views and lush vegetation

From the Duomo (Pfarrkirche), which is the main parish church in Merano (Meran) at 323 m, walk east to the Porta Passiria (Passeirer Tor) Gate. Continue along the old Passiria Road, which ascends slightly, up to the starting point of the Tappeinerweg Trail (375 m); about 10 minutes from the starting point. From there, turn left along the wide promenade to the Torre Polveriera (Pulver Turm) Tower and continue along the flat path west into the area of Quarezza (Gratsch), where the Tappeinerweg Trail ends, just after the Gasthaus Unterweger Inn on Via Laurin (Laurinstraße) Road (400 m); just over 1 hour from the beginning of the trail. Return trip: From Quarazze, take the trail east for about a half hour. When you are below the Gasthaus Schlehdorf Inn, head down into the valley, through some switchbacks, until you reach Via Galileo (Galileo Straße). Continue through the portici (Lauben), the covered arcades that run through town, back up to the starting point.
