Along the old train tracks in the valley Höhlensteintal
This tour starts near the location “Saghäusern” and brings you to the lake Toblach. The path runs to the left side of the river Rienz and brings you through a small mixed forest. You will encounter some gravelly and dirty tracks which happened to be like this because of the rivers that bring all this debris from the mountains to the valley. Soon you will meet the northern end of the lake where you can enjoy a pause in one of the many restaurants. You can also follow an educational path that starts here and runs round the lake. More than once you will encounter lovely and quiet places that invite to stay for a small break. The educational path brings you to the southern end of the lake and via the now mossy and swampy landscape you can get to the shore to the right. This is where your way back starts, running along old train tracks that once connected Cortina with the valley Pustertal. After approx. one hour you can again cross the river Rienz and get back to your car. Conditions of the
