In the Ahrntal valley at the foot of the ice giants

Cross the Ahr on the wooden bridge in Steinhaus opposite the town hall, then keep left and follow the course of the stream into the valley. You then walk a little way up the slope to some houses, but ignore the first two bridges and stay on the orographic left side of the stream. Only at the third bridge do you turn left to the "Am Bühel" district of Sankt Jakob. There is a place to stop for refreshments. Now walk up the access road to the church of Sankt Jakob. Here, too, you can stop for a break. About 50 metres before the church you will see an arrow pointing to the left with the sign "Steinhauser Höhenweg 12". We now follow this out of the valley, always along a series of farms. The signs are not exactly frequent, but always present at critical points. At the farms you can always assume that the path continues level, even if it often only consists of a faintly recognisable meadow path, but you cannot go wrong.
