This fantastic circular hike leads you to many highlights: cross the suspension bridge built in 2018, admire the colourful Lake Carezza, explore the Latemar forest, climb the rock labyrinth, explore the Eggental mountain cinema on the Latemar meadows and reach the Passo Costalunga.
And then the breathtaking panorama unique in the world of the giants of the Dolomites, the Rosengarten/Catinaccio and the Latemar.

Turn-by-turn directions

The route starts from the Paolina car park. Follow the signs for the path [6] towards Lake Carezza. Cross the suspension bridge from where you reach the car park, cross it until you reach the underpass to Lake Carezza. Walk along the right bank of Lake Carezza until you reach the hiking trail [11]. Follow the path [11] as far as the Radura di Mezzo (1839 m), and then continue on the labyrinth trail [20] until the junction with path [18]. Turn right on the path [18] (direction Forcella Latemar). After a steep climb, you will reach path [18A], which leads flat across a meadow. After a short ascent, you reach the Latemar meadows and the Mountain cinema Val d'Ega (1861 m), which offers a magnificent view of the Catinaccio and the Roda di Vaèl. Finally, the trail [17] leads to Passo Costalunga. From the Passo Costalunga, take the path [6] on the left to return to the starting point at the Paolina car park.

Getting there

Take highway's exit “Bolzano Nord/Eggental”, turn right direction Bolzano/Bozen, after about 0,5 km on roundabout keep left and head towards Val d'Ega (SS 241). Keep driving up to Ponte Nova. At Ponte Nova’s crossroads, turn to the left in direction to Nova Levante and continue until parking Paolina in Carezza (about 30 min. from highway toll booth).
