Guncina (Guntschna) Promenade

Start out at the Vecchia Chiesa Parrocchiale di Gries (Alten Grieser Pfarrkirche), which is the old parish church of Gries, near a large school building (260 m). Follow the promenade through several switchbacks up the hill to the former Hotel Germania complex. Continue along the promenade, which passes through some partially natural scrub, to the Castel Guncina (Reichrieglerhof) Hotel. Just before crossing the road that leads to San Genesio (Jenesien), follow the part of the promenade that branches off to the left over to a house then briefly right up to road and follow it a few minutes to the west. Then turn onto the little road that branches off to the left towards Föhrnerhof (505 m; wine tavern, open sporadically); 1.5 hours from the starting point. For the descent, either follow the route of ascent as described or stay with trail markings (No. 9) along the paved Glaninger Weg, most of which is quite steep, down to the former Hotel Germania. Then either take the promenade or the
