From the Rodenecker Alm to the Starkenfeld Hut

We leave the car at the pay and display car park in Zumis, near the village of Gifen. Follow the forest road for 45 minutes through fir and larch forests to the Roner Alm (1832 m). From here, after a short steep section (up to the picturesque church of Santa Clara and Bartolomew), continue in the direction of the Starkenfeld hut, past beautiful pastures, adorned with small alpine pastures and wooden haystacks. The panorama is, in short, fantastic, with views of the Dolomites, the Eisack Valley, the Sass de Putia and the Geisler. After about 1 hour of leisurely hiking we reach the Starkenfeld Hütte (1936 m). Here you can eat and buy home-made products. Those who still have enough juice can continue on the path to the Astjoch (1 hour from Starkenfeld), from where there is a wonderful view. Return the same way. On the way home, a picturesque view opens up from Rodenegg Castle;
