From the Mendel Pass via the Halbweghütte to the Romenoalm

From the Mendel Pass (1363 m), trail no. 500 (formerly 521) leads level through a lovely mixed forest (always stay on the road) to the Enzian hut (about a quarter of an hour to this point; playground for children). The trail continues comfortably, partly level, partly slightly uphill, past well-kept summer resorts until you reach a barrier after about 25 minutes. From here, the forest path becomes visibly more strenuous, with short, steep sections. At the side of the path, there are always benches and tables that invite you to take a breather and give you time to enjoy the beautiful and varied flora. We reach the halfway hut after another 20 minutes (1585 m, playground). The continuation of the hike to the Roenalm is certainly rewarding, but strenuous throughout. After the halfway hut, we follow the wide forest road, which is pleasant at first, but becomes progressively more difficult. The pram has to be carried for two short stretches.
