From Pfatten to the Montiggler Lakes
The hiking destination is the two Montiggl lakes. But they are not approached from Eppan or Girlan - the starting point is the village of Pfatten. Already in ancient times, this was the connection between the bottom of the Etschtal and the Überetsch.
From the village hall in Pfatten (243 m) follow the signpost "Montiggler Seen" and marker 5 on the somewhat steep and stony footpath through the bush slopes up to a depression in the ridge of the Mitterberg, through this to a tarmac road and along this to the edge of the forest not far from Montiggl (approx. 500 m; from Pfatten a good 1 hour).); here turn right along signposted paths to the large and small Montiggl lakes (approx. 500 m; from Pfatten just under 1:30 hrs.); there are refreshment stops in the area of the lakes. - Descent: After circling the two lakes from the eastern shore of the Great Montiggl Lake, follow the signpost "Pfatten" and marker 5 A, first through a depression of the ridge eastwards, then on the marked trail down to the Mair farm on the edge of the valley floor and on the tarred corridor trail next to a water channel through orchards back to Pfatten. From the Montiggler Seen lakes just under 1:30 hrs.
