From Merano to Thurnstein Castle

The starting point for all the following variants is Merano. The longest one climbs from Galileistra;e in serpentines up to Tappeinerweg and keeps to the right until Panoramaweg (also Kulturweg, Mark. Nr. 6) branches off to the left. A gentle climb takes you to the centre of Dorf Tirol and continues with a steep climb to Schloss Tirol. Continue on marker no. 29 to the right and reach Thurnstein Castle on an asphalted road via St. Peter. After a well-deserved stop and rest, descend on trail no. 29A to Gratsch. From there, follow the road briefly uphill until the Tappeinerweg branches off to the right at the first bend. Follow this path and either go up to Galileistra&szlig, to Pfarrplatz or at the end of the path down to Gilf and you will reach the centre of Merano again.
