In the silver rock
The Flim lakes are two lonely mountain lakes in a magnificent scenic location high above the middle Martell valley. The lakes are particularly attractive because of the bright, silvery rock, which is rich in shimmering mica platelets.

From the village of Gand in the Martell Valley (1267 m), follow the M 22 up the slope on the east side and out of the valley until you reach trail 2 leading up from Ennewasser. Now follow this trail through the Flimwald forest, which is quite steep in places, up to the upper alpine pasture. Turn right here and follow trail 18 up the western slope of the valley to the lower Flimsee (2171 m; 2:30 hrs); from there, possibly steep but easy up to the upper lake (2563 m; 1:00 hrs from the lower lake). The descent is best done on the ascent trail, but at the lower alp you can also take the M 2/A branching off to the west, which also leads down to Gand, but is somewhat exposed in places.
