From Holy Cross to St. Leonhard
In St. Leonhard (1365 m) near Pedratsches in Abtei we take the cable car which takes us up to 1850 m. We then change to the chair lift and ride comfortably up to Heilig Kreuz (2045 m ). Here a grandiose panorama reveals itself, including such famous peaks as the Marmolada, Piz Boe, Sassongher, Gardenaccia and the Peitlerkofel. At our back, the majestic Kreuzkofel (2907 m) is within reach, but for its (easy) ascent you need mountain experience, a head for heights and via ferrata equipment. For the descent into the valley we take trail no. 13 towards La Ila/Stern. We pass a large drainage gallery that is supposed to prevent landslides in this delicate area. The path follows an old crossroads that leads through an enchanting forest. After about half an hour, we leave No. 13, keep to the right and take an unnumbered but marked path towards Oies.
