From Harrows to Häusler Sam

Start from Kardaun near Bolzano through the Val d'Ega valley to Eggen (1130 m). Now walk from the centre of the village, always following signpost 7 (route 7a is somewhat shorter, but follows a tarmac road for longer), first on the level road to the Leitnerhof farm, then on the Promenadeweg (former Kirchsteig) to the Kobhof farm and up to the Grotthof farm. Now follow the markings S (= Samweg) for a long time on the Samweg, which is soon wide but also narrow in places, on a steep incline, passing the Flecker-Sam hut, to the path H, which branches off to the right and then a short climb to the Häusler Sam (1547 m; Almgasthaus; from Eggen 2 – 2:30 hrs). Short descent: From the alpine pasture, follow the good markings H (= Häusler-Sam) westwards along a largely steep forest path down to the district of Städtl and on a narrow road back to Eggen; from the alpine pasture 1 hour .
