Exploring Renon (Ritten) above Bolzano (Bozen)
Exploring the geological miracle of the Renon Earth Pyramids, a pilgrimage church and picturesque settlements

From the central village of Collalbo (Klobenstein) at an elevation of 1,154 metres, the hike leads to Lengmoos past the former Cafè Erdpyramiden. Take Trail No. 24, which takes you through the stunning scenery of the pyramids and to the pilgrimage chapel of Maria Saal (1,174 m, several taverns close by). From here, follow Trail No. 8 through sloping pastures up to Enzian Tavern and take the forest road marked M 8 uphill to Bagni di Sis (Bad Siess) at 1,434 metres; walking distance from the church approximately 1 hour. Keep following Trail M 8 for half an hour to the forest hotel of Tann (1,488 m, by reservation only). Descent: follow the street to Collalbo (signposted) leading south for a bit then switch to Trail No. 6/1; at thejunction, take Trail No. 1 on the left through forests and meadows towards a group of summer residences back to Collalbo. Walking distance from Tann is 1 hour.
