A tour of the city is combined with a hike to the Rafenstein ruins. From the historic chambers you can enjoy a magnificent view of Bolzano with its narrow streets.

This varied hike takes us first from Waltherplatz in the city centre through the narrow alleys of Bolzano to the Talfer. Here we orientate ourselves upstream and then hike up through orchards and vineyards to the ruins of Rafenstein Castle. This castle was built in the 13th century, changed hands again and again over the centuries and has been in a state of disrepair for around 200 years. However, a renovation is in the planning stage. Entering the castle complex is therefore not recommended. Nevertheless, at 700 m above sea level, there is a magnificent view of the Adige Valley, the Isarco Valley and the surrounding mountain ranges. After a break we return to Bolzano, where we stroll through the city centre before returning to our starting point.
