Farm round on the sunny side of the Puster Valley
Tappeiner Verlag
From Gisser Eck near St. Sigmund üvia the Höfewweg to Mühlen near Pfalzen and back üvia Kiens
Passing a few houses, our route soon winds its way upwards along a beautiful forest path. Suddenly the forest thins out and we walk along wide meadows. We pass stately trees. Their names provide information about their original tasks. The name of the Deckerhof farm, for example, refers to making blankets. The name of the Hitthalerhof, for example, is said to go back to Hüttental. We reach the small village of Mühlen, which belongs to the municipality of Pfalzen, a sign points out the so-called Säulenfichte, which we can reach from there. A mutation that looks like a maypole wrapped in branches. Now unique in Südtirol, there are said to have been others in the past, for example near Tils and in the Latemar area.
