From Meran, go by car, bus or chairlift to Velloi (Vellau). From here, take the lift to Leiteralm Tavern (1,522 m). Continue on Trail No. 24, first steeply up the mountain, than across the forested slopes to the Hochganghaus mountain inn  (1,839 m), where you should arrive after 1 1/2 hours of hiking.  From here, Trail No. 7 goes right up the mountain, first across meadows then through the forest and eventually through rocky terrain up to Hochgang Pass (2,455 m). Sections of the trail are rather exposed, but secured with chains and steel ropes. Once you reach Hochgang, the trail leads north almost flat until you reach a fork. The left-hand trail leads to the Milchseen Lakes; stay right on Trail No. 22 and follow it down to Langsee Lake (2,377 m) and Grünsee Lake (2,338 m) then on down to Oberkaser alpine pasture (2,131 m). From here, take signposted Trail No. 25 past Karer and Pfitscher Lakes up to the Pfitscher Jöchl notch. Keep right until you reach Taufenschater Pass (2,195m),
