Easy summit in Val Gardena: the Pic Mountain
The Pic mountain is a striking, grassy elevation above S. Cristina, which thanks to its open position offers a view that is hardly more impressive than on many a more famous or higher peak. The Geisler peaks, the Puez group, the Sella massif, the Sassolungo group and the Sciliar rise up all around it as one of the most beautiful mountain backdrops in the Dolomites.
Approach on the farm road from S. Cristina in Val Gardena (1398 m) via the hamlet of Plesdinaz northwards up to the well-known Rungaudie farm (1720 m; here also easily possible on foot, 1 h). From there, follow the markings and the signs "Sëurasas Pic", first almost level and later moderately steep through the forest up to the tree line, then cross the mountain meadows of Sëurasas in a north-westerly direction (approx. 2100 m, from Rungaudie just under 1 hour), then on a meadow path briefly northwards up to the west ridge of the Pic mountain (signpost) and finally on a good path over the grassy ridge ridge in another hour moderately steep up to the summit (2363 m). - The descent is on the same route as the ascent.
