Hiking in Ötzi's footsteps
Through the Mastauntal valley to the Mastaunalm and up the Lafetzberg mountain

From Unser Frau in Schnals (approx. 1500 m), behind the Hotel Goldenes Kreuz, trail no. 19–17A leads to the Mastaunhof farm. From there, continue on forest road no. 17A along the gorge of the Mastaun valley to the Mastaunalm (1810 m). Here you can stop for a short break before taking the steep trail no. 19 up to the Lafetzberg (2285 m, also called „Mastaunpichl“). Here you have a beautiful view of Unser Frau and the Tisental valley. Continue on trail no. 19 to the rustic Lafetzalm (2015 m) below, where you more than deserve a stop for refreshments after the somewhat strenuous climb, before returning to the starting point on trail no. 19.
