Barbian Waterfalls
A circular hiking destination high above Waidbruck: the Barbian Waterfall is 85 metres high and visible from afar.
In Barbian (830 m; road up from Waidbruck, guesthouse) always follow the signs to the "waterfall", first on the village road southwards for a short distance to the crossroads, then turn right, partly on farm access roads, but mostly on old footpaths through meadow slopes and finally through woodland to the large Barbian waterfall (1000 m; from Barbian 0:45 hrs.). Then continue following the markings to the right, partly over field blocks, partly on a steep path up through the forest to a smaller waterfall and further up (secured by ropes in one place) to the upper waterfall (1170 m); in total from Barbian 1:30 hrs. – Descent: Do not return on the ascent trail, but follow the signs to "Barbian" on a trail crossing the steep forest slopes (rope safety in places) and then on a wide path to Flatschhof and continue to follow the signs to "Barbian" on the old trail through forest and meadows down to Barbian; a good 1:00 hrs.
