Hiking at the foot of the Odle Mountains
The Adolf Munkel Trail runs below the imposing north faces of the Odle/Geisler Mountains
The Adolf Munkel Trail, which runs below the imposing north faces of the Odle/Geisler Mountains, is one of the most spectacular trails in the Dolomites. We’ll be experiencing a variety of plant life: at Tschantschenon Stream, in the dwarf shrub heath along the Adolf Munkel Trail, on the alpine meadows,
and in the shady Black Forest. Großgrub is an important headwater. This trail inspires us to speak about the importance of the forests and springs for the Earth as a whole.
The Adolf Munkel Trail begins at the parking area in Zannes/Zans. First follow Trail No. 6 towards Tschantschenon until you reach the bridge. Turn right there, and then follow signs to Adolf Munkel Weg, No. 35. Follow this trail to Gschnagenhardtalm alpine pasture (recommended) and the Geislerhütte mountain hut. Continue along Trail No. 36 to the Dussler Alm alpine pasture and then back to Zannes. Food and drink is served at all four huts.
