Central location with a view
From the summit cross, you can enjoy a panoramic view that encompasses a series of peaks: the Sarntal, Ötztal, Stubai and Zillertal Alps, the Pfunderer Mountains, and the Dolomites as far as Mount Ortler.

Coming from Rio di Pusteria (Mühlbach) in the lower Val Pusteria (Pustertal) via Nauders, up to the Zumis parking area (1,725 m) on the western edge of the main area of alpine pastures. From there, walk along the aforementioned supply road or along the Konfinweg Trail, which runs alongside it (marked footpath), following signs for Ronerhütte mountain hut. You’ll do a little segment through the woods and then across alpine meadows, about 1 hour to Ronerhütte (1,832 m; tavern). Then take the upper path, eastward and still almost flat, through beautiful pastureland to Starkenfeldhütte mountain hut (1,936 m; also a tavern, a good hour from Roneralm). Then, head onto a broad trail that continues east to the western foot of the Giogo d'Asta (Astjoch) notch. From there, it’s a relatively easy, moderately steep climb to the summit (2,196 m; one hour from Starkenfeldhütte). Return to the parking lot: same route as ascent.
