Arco - Rifugio Velo - Passo Due Sassi - Troiana - Arco
From the olive grove to the chestnut forest: the tour to Monte Velo is an extremely famous climb that has been completed twice by the Giro d'Italia. With breathtaking panoramic views, the narrow road leads through an unspoilt landscape that served as a second line of defence during the First World War.
From the car park in ➊ Arco (90 m), continue to the first roundabout and then continue towards Nago until you reach the ➋ Mezzocorona winery. There, turn left and follow the signs for Monte Velo, passing through the ➌ Salve Regina (620 m) after several hairpin bends. A moderately steep ascent leads to the road fork ➍ Monte Velo (1020 m). At the Chapel of the Fallen go left and after about 600 m you will reach the refreshment stop ➎ Agritur Monte Velo. The asphalted road takes you to the village of ➏ Monte Velo (1050 m) and turn left along the forest road downhill to ➐ Schivazappa (1030 m). From there (attention,keep to the right!) follow the road, which leads over a long section in constant ups and downs to ➑ Passo Due Sassi (1108 m) führt. After about 60 m of ascent, you reach the highest point of the tour,the road fork to Troiana. Continue left and after a long descent over a gravel road you reach the ➒ Carobbi (763 m).
