Bressanone (Brixen) City Tour
Through the streets of Bressanone (Brixen), the bishop's city of Valle Isarco (Eisacktal)
We begin our tour in the heart of the city, the Piazza del Duomo (Domplatz). It is easily accessible from the underground parking garage on Via Dante (Dantestraße), the neighbouring bus station (on the opposite side from the garage), and the nearby railway station. The square itself is worth seeing: the magnificent facades of the cathedral and Parish Church of St. Michael are to the east, the town hall is located to the north, and there is an interesting fountain on the south end of with a bronze sculpture by Martin Rainer, which depicts human life. After a visit to the cathedral and the cloister, we head back toward Piazza Duomo. We turn left (south), and soon see on the right the well-fortified Palazzo Vescovile (Hofburg), which now houses the Diocesan Museum. To the right, we find the Kutscherhof, where the horses and carriages of the prince-bishop were once housed. If you cross the courtyard, you enter into the pretty little Giardion di Signori (Herrengarten). But we continue
