From village to village
From Kaltern through South Tyrol's most beautiful wine villages to Algund near Merano, the famous spa and garden town.

The second stage leads from Kaltern an der Weinstra;e through some of the most beautiful villages in South Tyrol in the Überetsch and Etschtal valleys. On just under 40 km of mostly flat road, you pass through St. Michael-Eppan, St. Pauls, Nals and Lana, and finally Merano itself, before arriving at your next accommodation in Algund. From the market square in Kaltern, the journey begins on the old railway line, which has been converted into a cycling and walking path, and continues for about 4km to the turn-off for St. Michael. The path goes left under the main road and straight into the centre on the Kaltererstraße. Continue straight on in a northerly direction to and through the picturesque village of St. Pauls. At the northern end of the village, the road offers a fast and winding course until you reach the bottom of the Adige Valley at the small hamlet of Unterrein. Follow the signs for Andrian on the wide road until you reach a bridge over the Adige. Do not cross the bridge,
