Challenging skitouring route from the Vallelunga as far as the majestic Punta Lago Bianco.

Ascent: we venture into the valley through a gap in the fence at the end of the larches on the right-hand side and go along a section of the cross-country skiing trail. We continue for 80–100 m, as far as the secondary valley on the left hand side. We go up a steep slope to the right of the stream and eastwards until we reach a plateau, then further on and over a fence to reach a moraine ramp. We continue diagonally and reach the large terrace above the Innere Schäferhütte, 2,354 m. So far it has taken us two hours. Now we enter a wide valley at 2,600 m, and continue on the right-hand side over rolling hills and along valley slopes until we reach a wide valley that takes us north to the Valgin Glacier. From here the Punta Lago Bianco is clearly visible. We go up the gently sloping terrain as far as the upper left-hand corner of the Grande Catino. A short steep slope leads to the fork, 3,271 m, on the west ridge of the Punta Lago Bianco. We leave our skis and continue up a not too
