Punta Altacroce
Rewarding hike in the Valle di Racines on the Punta Altacroce, ideal in winter.
Ascent: having left the bridge on our left we go right up the track which goes briefly through a wood. At the edge of a clearing we go left into an open space. We continue up to below a rocky rampart and up a slope diagonally to the right. From here along a plateau we reach the Klammalm (1,925 m) and then continue to a sharp corner where we turn left and enter a wide valley. Route to the Punta Altacroce (Hohe Kreuzspitze): we go down into the valley, after the Klammalm, there is an old wall. From there we go right up a very steep slope, to reach a plateau where we find the Butsee (2,400 m). Here we go left up a moderately steep slope leading to a hollow. We keep to the left under a pass, and go up the summit ridge. We leave our skis to reach the summit on the left. Descent: via the same route.
