Ascent to the Orecchia di Lepre – ski touring in the Val Martello to the famous summit

We reach the Morter alpine hut in 20 minutes, 1,900 m. We go past the new alpine hut (through the gate) and continue up as far as the first valley. At the edge of the forest we keep left and enter a wide valley, 2,100 m. We continue up a slope which gets steeper and steeper and then less steep at 2,550 m. We go past hollows and reach a short but steep slope leading to the ridge at 2,920 m. We keep left first, then go straight up and reach the crest at 3,030 m (here is where we join the route from the Flatschberg alpine hut, in the Upper Val d’Ultimo). We now head east, along part of the ridge, and we continue towards the summit which is further behind. If necessary, we leave our skis for the final stage. Descent via the same route.
