The spellbinding Collalto
Classic hike in the vicinity of Collalto, ideal in winter and spring.

Ascent: After the bridge we go up through a meadow from where, on the right-hand side, a track begins. We follow it for about half an hour all the way to the end, near a cross (1,800 m). We take route no. 8, which runs through the wood and up a steep slope to an altitude of about 2,100 m. We continue on the left on an open plateau. After a small bridge to the left, at 2,121 m, the path takes us to the Rifugio Roma (2,276 m, approx. 2 hours from the car park). We go past the low summit directly above the rifugio, and go left up to the shrine. We go up the Monte Covoni valley (Tristennöckl) to a plateau. We continue left along a mound and up some gentle steps, going past a rain gauge until we reach the left edge of the glacier. We go straight ahead heading south, then south-west until we arrive below the eastern crest of the Monte Magro (Magerstein). We go diagonally right up to the foot of the rugged peaks. We veer right to reach the summit. Descent: via the same route. In safe snow
