Ascent: Follow the forest road (shortcuts possible) to the signpost to the left of the waterfall (1450 m). Now follow the summer trail no. 19 steeply upwards until you meet a forest road at 1628 m. Now there are two options: a)  Follow the forest road up to the left and then turn right to the Oberhütten (1859 m). b)  Turn right to the Unterhütte/Hofer-Paul-Hütte and up across the meadows to its end. There steeply and to the left of the rock wall to a fence, up to the right of the upper huts. Then to the right into a plain (1892 m) and through the hollow of the stream or to the left of it steeply to the upper plain (2400 m). Here turn right to the moraine and continue towards a prominent saddle on the Speikkofel ridge. Below this saddle, keep diagonally left until you reach the steep upturn of the Trippachscharte.
