Cima Lavazzè

It is a beautiful and scenic tour of the Maddalene mountain range, the orographic watershed between Trentino and Alto Adige. Its reasonable difficulties and slopes that are never too steep make it one of the most popular destinations, even though the side slopes of the wide valley above Malga Mazara (alpine dairy) need to be carefully tackled after recent snowfalls or when there are significant rises in temperature because of its southern exposure.

This itinerary is fairly safe and can usually be done in midwinter, however, the middle stretch of the wide valley above Malga Mazara (between an altitude of 2150m and 2250m) requires extra care, since it is an area subject to potential avalanches. Please note that the practicability of the itineraries in a mountain environment is strictly linked to the contingent conditions and is therefore influenced by natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this page may have changed. Before leaving for a tour, make sure the path you will approach is still accessible by contacting the owner of the mountain hut, the alpine guides or the visitor centres of the nature parks, the info offices of the local tourist board.

Turn-by-turn directions
From Masi Thal, take the forest road that leads to Malga Mazara (or Stierberg Alm - altitude 1850m), and then cross the stream and go westwards up the wide valley. When you get to a broad hollow at an altitude of 2300m (where you can find a small lake - Goldlahn See - in summer) and you can see the peak (on the left - to the south-west), you only need to tackle the last easy slope.
