The mountain where Ötzi died

From Naturno - Naturns in the Lower Venosta Valley you will be walking along the entire Val Senales to the Vernago reservoir (1,711 m; Hotel). Follow route 2 towards «Similaunhütte» you will be walking past the Tisenhof barn (1,822 m, 20 mins.; refreshments) along the tiny Tisa Valley through woods, meadows and rock, to reach the Rifugio Similaun (3,019 m, 4 hours). The trail follows the ridge to the west on uneven terrain among several ups and downs and some challenging parts that require the use of fixed ropes, and finally turns into a more moderate path to reach the Tisenjoch Pass (3,208 m, 1 hour from the refuge. Commemorative pyramid and end of route). The trail bordered by stone figures is a steep ascent on the rocky ridge (grade 1); once the eastern narrow ridge is reached you will quickly reach the cross on the summit (3,516 m). Return via the same route.
