Magnificent and solitary
trail from the Rifugio Oberettes to this superb peak: La Palla Bianca, highest altitude in the Alpi Venoste

In the upper Val Venosta, from the intersection at Tarces - Tartsch we will be walking up the Valley of Matsch up to the Glieshof Hotel 1,807 m). Route 1 leads to the Rifugio Oberettes (2,677 m, 2:30 hours) where an overnight stay is recommended. We will continue on the marked pathway (towards «Weisskugel»), and then turn left at the first intersection crossing the bridge over the mountain stream. We continue up a grass slope turning rocky but not difficult which will lead to the Hochgang crossing (3,000 m approx, view to the end of the trail). Next the well-signposted route takes us past the hollow valley and briefly downhill to the moraine and glacier (2,900 m). We will walk up the glacier and continue either on a very steep and icy slope or on a less steep pathway looking out for falling rocks, and then walk up to the col of Hintereisjoch, where the path from the opposite slope also arrives from Schöne Aussicht. We will cross the last section of the glacier, the steepest section
