Easy hike to Eschenlohe Castle in Val d'Ultimo (Ultental) Valley

Directions

From San Pancrazio (St. Pankraz) in Val d'Ultimo (Ultental) at 736 m, there are signposts near the church. Follow Trails No. 3/5/10, at first a little street leading through the settlement. At the upper end of the village, enter the forest of Kirchbachtal Valley. From here, follow the signposts for the eductional trail (Naturlehrpfad), across the creek in the opposite direction. The trail leads almost flat northeast on the right. After Holzneregg Farm, cross the street and go down to Baumannhof Tavern (753 m). On the upcoming trail, which is not marked but clearly visible, it is just a short climb up to the ruins of Eschenlohe Castle. Walking time to this point is at least an hour; allocate more time for reading all the information panels provided on the educational trail. The way back is identical to the ascent.
