South Tyrol is especially known for the impressive, steeply towering peaks of the Dolomites. Grab a pair of snowshoes and explore the "Pale Mountains" on varied tours through the dreamlike winter landscape.
Two absolute highlights in the Dolomite region are Alta Badia, the High Abbey Valley, and Castelrotto near Bolzano. In Alta Badia you will definitely not be disappointed by a snowshoe hike through the meadows of Armentara and to La Crusc (Holy Cross). The sight of the picturesque pilgrimage church in front of the mighty Heiligkreuzkofel is unforgettable.

Snowshoe tours with the best view of the Dolomites
The Rittner Horn in the Sarntal Alps is one of the most popular panoramic mountains in South Tyrol. From the summit at 2,260 m above sea level you have an unrestricted view of the Dolomites. Pack your snowshoes and choose a suitable route from our tour suggestions.
For example, you can hike from the Huberkreuz car park in Barbian to the Rittner Horn. You should plan a good five hours for the 12-kilometre tour. Enjoy South Tyrolean delicacies at the Feltuner Hütte or the Barbianer Alm on the way!
Alternatively, you can start your snowshoe hike to the Rittner Horn at the Roanerhof in Gissmann or at the Gasserhütte on the Villanderer Alm. In addition, the Rittner Horn mountain railway runs from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. in winter and takes you comfortably to the mountain station. From there you can set off on a relaxing panoramic tour with impressive mountain scenery.
