Informationen zur Tour Sasso Piatto - Plattkofel
We go along the sledge run up to the Rifugio Williams (2,100 m). From here we go down briefly to the Rifugio Zallinger. We then go back up to the Giogo di Fassa, where we come to the Rifugio Sasso Piatto (Plattkofelhütte, 2,300 m, closed in winter). From the rifugio, we go straight ahead and up the mound on the left-hand side of a pass, below the final steep slope of the Sasso Piatto, which starts at approx. 2,500 m above sea level. We start by making a wide left turn and then enter a wide hollow which goes down between the main summit and the west summit. We go back up the hollow to 2,800 m. We now go down along a steep traverse right until we reach a flat ridge (the summer route). We follow it to the next wide hollow and we go up until we reach the crest from where we head left towards the summit cross. Descent via the same route.
In safe snow conditions we can go directly to the west summit and all the way until we get to the highest point of a wide hollow, from where we begin to go down. We can also descend on the right of the lower pass (2,400 m), heading towards the Rifugio Zallinger, between two depressions until we reach less steep meadows.
In spring, when cable car and bus services to and from Saltria are suspended, it is worth going by mountain bike.
